Tatsuya Segawa, also known as The Third Man, who was present with Hydeout Productions from its inception to its peak, and the establishment of roph recordings, along with Nujabes, Uyama Hiroto, and Koizumi Takumi, has released his first album!

Raised in Fujisawa, he has cultivated a sensibility through exposure to various cultures such as music and surfing, mainly in the Shonan area.
It’s just dope and intuitive.
Her wild DJ style and freedom-minded personality have attracted many people. She started producing beats by providing music for the DVD “Dancing on the what” produced by the late professional surfer Yonosuke Sakuma, and through music she met nujabes and started working with her at the beginning of the label’s genesis. He met Uyama Hiroto and Koizumi Takumi during the modal soul release tour, and worked as a live DJ and tour DJ as tour members. Since then, he has provided numerous support as a live member. In “Spiritual State”, which is also Nujabes’ posthumous album, he participated in the album by scratching. After Nujabes passed away, he founded “Roph Recordings” with Hiroto Uyama and Takumi Koizumi as a place to carry on the wishes of Nujabes, but also to further sublimate and pursue their own music. The release of the split single “magic number / behind the peak” with Hiroto Uyama and the release of the single “hugewave” by him. After participating in the works of French artist Lex (de Kalhex), they will finally release the album they have been working on since the label’s establishment.

This work, “Pull. In Sai”, is lined up with songs that are intuitively expressed without stripping away the rough parts, in order to more realistically convey the strong presence of Segawa Tatsuya. It can be said that it embodies Segawa Tatsuya, who transcends genres and is not bound by boundaries. Additionally, Hiroto Uyama’s deep involvement in the production adds to the depth of expression.
Using the tones of flutes and drums, there are a number of powerful beats reminiscent of oriental and mysterious songs that can be heard in ohayashi, as well as early nujabes songs such as “horn in the middle.” Dope and addictive loops and extremely thick bass lines. That kind of rough side, and the mellow side where he plays chill-down melodies like the slow waves he’s seen and his emotional trumpet playing. It is a perfect expression of Segawa Tatsuya, who has a relaxed mind that lets himself go with the flow, and a fierce side that braves the rough seas and carries a mikoshi. Artists participating in the album include the energetic guitar playing of Taka Yashiro, who is based in Kamakura and has expressed the scenery of Route 134 in Shonan and has held many live sessions with him, and in the second half of the album, his ally guitarist King Bong. Also included are fast-paced songs featuring Frank, transparent and melodious piano performances by Hiroto Uyama, and a studio session with Tatsuya Segawa’s long and powerful trumpet.

Every song on the album is full of wildness, and your body naturally sways to the beat. As a surfer and festivalgoer, this is a gift that has overflowed from his intense sessions with people who are close to human nature, and his music touches the instinctual parts of the listener.
This is because, as Hiroto Uyama showed with Freeform Jazz, it is not constructive, but an impulsive piece of energy that overflows from the core, and it is probably because Tatsuya Segawa’s work is a soulful work filled with his life itself.

藤沢育ちで、湘南エリアを中心に音楽やサーフィン等、様々なカルチャーに触れ、培ってきた感性。 
それはまさしくドープネスで直感的。 
野性味溢れるDJスタイルとフリーダムマインドな人柄で多くの人を惹きつけてきた。プロサーファーである故佐久間洋之介プロデュースのDVD「Dancing on the what」への楽曲提供をきっかけにビート制作をスタートすると、音楽を通じてnujabesと出会いレーベルの創世記より行動を共に することとなる。modal soulのリリースツアーではUyama Hiroto、Koizumi Takumiと出会い、ツアーメンバーとしてライブDJ、ツアーDJを努めた。以 降はライブメンバーとして数々のサポートを行ってきた。nujabesの遺作でもある「Spiritual State」ではスクラッチでアルバムに参加を行っている。 nujabes亡き後は、Uyama Hiroto、Koizumi Takumiと共に、nujabesの意思を引き継ぎつつ、さらに自分たちの音楽を昇華し純粋に追求する場所と して「roph recordings」を設立。Uyama Hirotoとのスプリットシングル「magic number / behind the peak」のリリースやシングル「hugewave」のリ リース。フランスのアーティストLex (de Kalhex)の作品への参加などを経て、レーベル設立当初から温め続けてきたアルバムを遂にリリースする。 

本作「Pull. In Sai」は、Segawa Tatsuyaという強烈な存在をよりリアルに伝えるために、荒い部分をそぎ落とすことなく、直感的に表現された楽曲が 並んでいる。ジャンルを超越し枠にとらわれないSegawa Tatsuyaそのものを体現していると言える。また、プロデュースにUyama Hirotoが深く関わ ることで、その表現に厚みが増している。 
笛や太鼓の音色を使い、お囃子にも聞こえる東洋的で神秘的な楽曲や「horn in the middle」のような初期のnujabes楽曲を彷彿させる力強いビートの数々。ドープネスで中毒性の強いループや極太のベースライン。そんな荒々しい側面と、彼が見てきたスローな波のようにチルダウンするメロ ディーやエモーショナルなトランペットを演奏するメロウネスな側面。ゆったりと流れに身を任せるようなリラックスしたマインドと、荒波に挑み、神 輿を担ぐ猛々しい部分を持つSegawa Tatsuyaそのものをうまく表現している。アルバム参加アーティストには、鎌倉を拠点に湘南の134号線の情 景を表現し、共に数々のライブセッションを行ってきた、Taka Yashiroのエネルギッシュなギタープレイや、アルバム後半には盟友であるギタリスト King Bong Frankをフィーチャーした目まぐるしく展開を行う楽曲、透明感がありメロディアスなUyama Hirotoのピアノ演奏とロングトーンで力強く 演奏されるSegawa Tatsuyaによるトランペットのスタジオセッションなども収録されている。 

アルバムに収録されているどの曲をとっても、野性味に溢れ、自然とビートに体が揺れる。それはサーファーとして、祭り人として、人間の本質に近い ものとの濃厚なセッションにより溢れ出てきた賜物であり、その音楽はやはり聴く者の本能的な部分を揺さぶってくる。 
それはUyama HirotoがFreeform Jazzで見せたように、建設的ではなく、根幹から溢れ出たエネルギーが奏でる衝動的なものだからであり、 Segawa Tatsuyaの人生そのものが詰め込まれた魂の作品だからであろう。
