An indispensable element as the core concept of this album. That is “Hommage to Free Jazz”. 

From 1950 to 1960, dissatisfaction with harmonious restrictions led to the creation of a new genre, “free jazz,” which destroyed existing music and was not bound by preconceived notions. 
About half a century later, computers played music and made the impossible possible through revolutionary progress. 
This album is a “trial” and “destruction” of how far we can break through the limits of the limited world of HIP HOP music. 
Strong, deeply formed thoughts turn into messages that create new and unique drumming, crisp sounds. 
It is the liberation of possibilities, and the sound created by that liberation develops a story of a new genre, “Free Breaks”, unlike anything that has existed so far.
The beginning of this album was the 7 inch album released by tribe by

It was planned to be released as experimental music by nujabes, who was the owner of tribe at the time and presided over “hydeout productions”, and Koizumi Takumi, the current label manager of roph recordings who was the label manager at the time.

While planning a release with Seietsu, Koizumi Takumi established a label called “Solid State Muisc Lab” in search of a more pure testing ground.It was released as an album in 2010.

It is an experimental content that is unparalleled as a sound source for break beats and hip hop at that time, and it is a work that was too early to interpret as jazz.
In fact, it was also the work that became the basis for the concept of Uyama Hiroto’s “Freeform Jazz” released later on roph recordings, and the title “Freeform Jazz” was also diverted from here.
It is one of the indispensable works for roph recordings.

束縛からの解放とバンダリズム的精神。混沌としたメッセージが集まり、唯一無二のドラミングとクリスプで強靭なサウンドを作り出した。まさにそれは「Free Breaks」という新たなジャンルの幕開けである。
 
このアルバムの核となるコンセプトとして、欠く事の出来ない要素。それが、”フリージャズへのオマージュ”だ。

1950年～1960年に調和のとれた制限への不満からそれまであった音楽を破壊し既成概念にとらわれない新しいジャンル「フリージャズ」が生み出された。それから約半世紀コンピューターが音楽を奏で革新的な進歩により不可能を可能にしたそれと同時にソースを同じとする音楽が緩やかに並列を生み、気づかないうちにそれは可能性を狭めて来た。HIP HOPという音楽を起源に限られた世界の中でその限界を何処まで打ち破れるかという”試み”と”破壊”を行ったのがこのアルバムである。
強く深く形成された思考はメッセージへと姿を変え、それが新しく独特なドラミング、クリスプなサウンドを生み出している。それは可能性の解放であり、またその解放によって紡ぎだされたサウンドは今までのどれとも類を同しない新しいジャンル=「Free Breaks」へとストーリーを展開して行く。

Uyama Hiroto「Freeform Jazz」のリリースから7年。歴史的作品が制作された起点ともいうべき作品「Freeform Breaks」がroph recordingsよりリマスターを経て配信スタート。
 
このアルバムの発端はtribeからリリースされたthought… / 情叉 / 美髯公の7インチである。当時のtribeのオーナーであり「hydeout productions」の主宰であったnujabesと当時レーベルマネージャーを務めていた現roph recordingsのレーベルマネージャーKoizumi Takumiによって実験的な音楽としてリリースを計画。 Seietsuと2人でリリースを計画していく中でより純度の高い実験場を求めてKoizumi Takumiが「Solid State Muisc Lab」というレーベルを設立。
2010年にアルバムとしてリリースされた作品である。
当時のbreak beatsやHip Hopの音源としては類を見ない実験的な内容であり、またJAZZとしての解釈としては早過ぎた作品である。実は後にroph recordingsからリリースされたUyama Hirotoの「Freeform Jazz」の構想の元になった作品でもあり、「Freeform Jazz」というタイトルもここから流用された。roph recordingsにとってはなくてはならない作品の一つである。
